Nhava Sheva port in India is currently operating at over-capacity with a huge volume of import containers unable to be cleared from the port quickly to inland container terminals, as well as delays in moving import containers to the rail head.

Pilotage delays leading to delays in arrival vessel berthing and de-berthing have also attributed to the delays.

Some shipping lines are implementing a Congestion Surcharge for all containers arriving in Nhava Sheva port, other carriers have decided to omit the port from scheduling until further notice.
